THE THY GLOBAL CEO, ISMAIL ABDULAZEEZ WAS A GUEST TRAINER AT HER EXCELLENCY, MRS. BOLANLE AMBODE’S HOPE FOR WOMEN IN NIGERIA INITIATIVE’ WHERE OVER 100 YOUTHS WERE EMPOWERED FOR 2 DAYS RECENTLY IN LAGOS.
It was great seeing over one hundred (100) youths drawn across Lagos State penultimate Tuesday 15th August, 2017 seated in a massive hall for empowerment program on various skill acquisition tagged ‘’HOFOWEM International Youth Day’’ organized by Her Excellence, Mrs Bolanle Ambode’s Hope For Women In Nigeria Initiative at Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.
The children’s joy knew no bounds as professional trainers from different trades taught them in details on various empowerment programmes.
The CEO, The Thy Global Investment Limited, Mr. Ismail AbdulAzeez was among the prominent trainers invited to the two-day program.
Registration of participants to the program commenced as early as 8.30 in the morning of Monday 14th, August 2017 and was concluded at exactly 10.52 am after which the training commenced.
The children proved that there is a brighter future for them with the knowledge that has been impacted in them during the training.
After their training on the second day of the elaborate program, the youths were thrilled by the presence of Her Excellency, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode who addressed and encouraged them to embrace being an employer of labour through what they have learnt rather than seeking for a white cola job that may not be there. All the youths were dressed in HOFOWEM branded tee-shirts. Indeed it was another memorable day for the youths (male and females) as they used the occasion to interact with their mates, the trainers and other professionals present at the occasion.
In his post training speech The Thy Global CEO, Mr. Ismail AbdulAzeez who trained the youth on snail and grasscutter farming said he was satisfied with the quality of the knowledge so impacted on the youths and the assimilation skills, judging by the reactions and responses from the youths after his lectures. Ofodile Lauretta Nwanneka Ph. D, a Mycologist and Mushroom Biotechnologist from Yaba College of Technology was another trainer who rose above bar at the training program. She said the children who spent their time being trained on various skills should continue to be monitored to ensure all they learnt is not wasted.
A Director in the media office of the first lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Folashade Kadiri who anchored the event in her address said ‘’HOFOWEM’s commitment to the upliftment of the less privileged, especially training of the youths was aimed at supporting them, saying it would enable the youths to become self-reliance in their respective future endevours’’.
Further speaking on the strides of the non-profit organization (HOFOWEM), Managing Director of HOFOWEM, Ms.Oyefunke Adeleke said the HOFOWEM as a non-governmental organisation was put in place by its founder to bring people together with pulled resources for the benefit of helping the less-privileged in the society. She explained that past few years, the intervention strategy adopted by the founder was targeted at helping people who are partially blind to regain their sight, reduce hunger among the poor, educate children of the less-privileged etc.
Further assuring the participants, Mrs. Ambode enjoined other well-meaning Nigerians not to relent in their efforts towards the upliftment of the children assuring that they are being nurtured as leaders of the nearest future without anyone knowing it.
Ambode who also played ‘mother’ by extending warmed handshake and hugging each of the children as they collected their certificate of participation, said ‘’a child can actually be anything he/she wants to be when he/she set his/her mind on the given passion’’
She praised and thanked the invited trainers for their support, patience and dedication to the laudable empowerment program, saying, it would no-doubt help in no-small way at engaging the youths in lasting and meaningful skills, thereby discouraging acts of adolescence social vices in the society.
